If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I’ve spent the last week in Iceland. I’m a real scaredy-cat when it comes to flying so actually getting there in the first place was a real feat along with driving on the right side of the road for the first time and in ice. But I have to say that the landscape and the light have completely changed my life. I know that this statement sounds like a silly cliche but I also know that the monochrome landscapes and the elemental composition of the tundra will be a source of inspiration forever. I filled a sketchbook full of charcoal drawings and I’m so excited to get into my studio and use them to create a new body of work. I am so keen to go back – but I’ll have to wait a year – as the snow was already melting on the low lands and it’s the white that captivates. If you’ve never been then I urge you to go. It’s one of the wonders of our world.
