The landscape in Bláfjöll is like nothing I've seen before.
Its softened silhouette hides tundra which, in the summer, is covered in a soft, pale green and yellow moss. There are hints of the colours under sheer sheets of ice and the palette that this conjures is incredibly beautiful.
I spent a good part of the day driving over the rengslavegur pass, and have never been so terrified on the roads in my life. White snow on white mountains on white drifts on white roads with white knuckles.
Water freezes in the -8 degree temperature, which means that working with paint is tricky. I have been taking lots of photographs during my initial adventures in the landscape and will print them to use during my time in the studio space.
